Here is the MARRA BLOCK PARTY, the live event that brings the origins of MARRACASH to the center, with the aim of giving back what its community has given to it.
The event involved Via Enrico De Nicola, in the area between Via De Pretis, Via Voltri and Via San Vigilio. The artistic program came alive at 4.30pm with the Opening Act until 7.00pm, the official start time of the Marracash concert. The artistic line up of the day involved young talents and opened at 4.30pm with a DJ set by Chef P and DJ 2P. From 5.30pm to 6.00pm Bandits Crew/Bandits Dance Studio and R1Mka – Elylaba – xMikeyi – Yas Laba alternated on stage. The show continued at 6.00 pm with performances by rappers who grew up in Barona: YEB, followed by Mimmoflow, and ABBY 6IX, whose stage name pays homage to Zone 6. At 6.35 pm, RAME, the rapper who is a leading figure in the local hip hop scene, took to the stage and preceded the start of Marracash's show at 7.00 pm.
Inspired by the historic street celebrations that gave birth to hip hop culture in the world's metropolises, the MARRA BLOCK PARTY – produced by Friends&Partners and BigPicture Mngmnt in collaboration with Municipality 6 and the Municipality of Milan – will be a unique event, designed to transform the neighborhood into a true urban stage, for an intense experience of music, energy and community. A story of redemption that, today, at the height of his fame, the artist wants to become collective: the redemption of the Barona, its periphery, often at the center of his songs. For these reasons, Marracash has created a project with a high social, cultural and symbolic impact, strongly rooted in the Barona area – the working-class neighborhood of Milan where he grew up – with the aim of restoring value and opportunities to the neighborhood and the people who live there.
MARRACASH announced the Marra Block Party on March 2, following a historic milestone for the artist: in fact, the album “PERSON“, released on 31 October 2019, after 330 consecutive weeks of stay in the charts (over 6 years) – an unprecedented record in Italian music – achieved the Diamante album certification, exceeding 500,000 copies sold. He is the second solo artist in the history of Italian rap to reach this milestone. “Persona”, released in 2019, immediately dominated the charts, becoming the best-selling album of 2020; it marked a turning point in Italian rap, pushing the genre beyond its boundaries and consecrating Marracash as a central figure of Italian music. It is the first album of the Trilogy, in which Marracash talks about his “crisis” and reflects on his career, life and identity.Us, Them, The Others” – certified eight times platinum – which deals with conflict and social issues, and “Peace is over”, where it reaches the acceptance and reclamation of being unique.
Ten years after the release of Santeria, Marracash will return live together with Guè for “Marracash & Guè – Santeria 10th Anniversary”, two special dates scheduled for Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2026 at the Snai San Siro Hippodrome in Milan. Two unique evenings to celebrate one of the most iconic partnerships in Italian rap: on stage all the successes born from their collaboration in over twenty years of career and the energy of Santeria, the album that in 2016 redefined the sound and imagery of the Italian urban scene.
Marracash's career is a succession of successes in every artistic aspect. In fact, there are 1 Diamond album, 132 platinum albums, 34 gold albums, the victory of the Targa Tenco 2022 with “NOI, THEM, THE OTHERS” for the best album ever category, the creation of the first Italian rap festival, the MARRAGEDDON, a watershed event for the scene in September 2023 in Milan and Naples and the first stadium tour for an Italian rapper, the MARRA STADI25.
7,400 people contributed to the proceeds – net of VAT and SIAE – which will be entirely donated to social activities and the redevelopment of structures and activities dedicated to the young people of Barona. The partners and sponsors involved supported the production costs necessary for the event, as well as supporting the fundraising.
