“When You Are Strange” the story of the Doors on Rai 5

Music news

“When you are strange” is the first documentary film that traces the history of the Doors, and in particular that of Jim Morrison, from his meeting with keyboardist Ray Manzarek in the corridors of UCLA, until his tragic death in Paris in 1971.

In “When you are strange” Tom DiCillo recounts, with unpublished and private images of the band, the artistic and human path of the group and its legendary front man: the work in the recording studio, the meetings with fans and the concerts, on stage and behind the scenes, Morrison’s poetic production.

There is no shortage of references to Jim Morrison’s excesses and his complex personality, but the film is above all the intimate story of the personal relationships between the 4 musicians, who have made a considerable contribution to the history of pop culture.

The Doors existed for just 54 months, making 6 albums and winning four consecutive gold records.

In the Italian version, the film is narrated by Morgan, while in the original version the narrator’s voice is Johnny Depp.
