“Live” will be released on August 28, the first soundtrack album for a Pulp film: “Pulp: What Do You Do For an Encore?”, the film directed by Garth Jennings which will be released worldwide this autumn.
A concert is an event where songs come back to life. That's why this album is called “Live!””, explains Jarvis Cocker about this unique album in Pulp's discography. «It's both a statement of fact (it's a recording of a live band) and a challenge (come on! Everyone, come alive!).»
The relationship between Pulp and Garth Jennings dates back to 1997, the year in which the director created the promotional video for the song “Help the Aged”. When Pulp announced their return to touring in 2023, Garth reached out to the band and offered his help in designing the stage concept for the shows. Then, in June 2025, he filmed the group's two performances at the O2 Arena in London. These shots form the heart of the film.
The shows at the O2 also provide the material for this live album. These were the 566th and 567th performances of the band's career and represent a snapshot of a group at the top of their game.
Recorded in the week in which “BlackberriesPulp's first album in 24 years reached number one in the Official UK Chart, capturing exactly the moment when the band became a creative force again. Old classics and new classics brought together for the first time.
“Live!” will be released on 28 August 2026. Not surprisingly, that same evening Pulp will be on stage for an already sold-out concert at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester. The album will be available on double vinyl, both as a limited edition blue vinyl, available through the band's online store, the label and at independent record stores, and on black vinyl, as well as on double CD and on major digital streaming platforms.
