The duo presents a new preview of GET MEAN.
Less than a month before the premiere of GET MEANthe new album material from Boy Harsher which will arrive this September 18th through Atlantic Recordsthe duo made up of Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller shared the single “Tough Luck (When You Don’t Call)” as a new preview of the album.
With “Tough Luck (When You Don’t Call)”the project originating from Massachusetts presents a track electronic sound, with a dark tone and a dense and minimalist atmosphere created through the use of synthesizers, accompanied by a voice that manages to reinforce the feeling of tension. The lyrics can be interpreted as a reflection of an internal struggle between indifference and emotional dependence, where human fragility in the face of abandonment is exposed.
This release comes after “Jeans” and “Hard Beat”the first promotional songs of the album, with which the project shows that this stage will incorporate elements of coldwave, EBM and pop, demonstrating its constant evolution and reaffirming why they have established themselves as a key reference within contemporary darkwave.
The background of the material dates back to early 2024, when the band faced a personal crisis resulting from the separation between its members. After a process of mourning, distancing and creative reconciliation, Boy Harsher He turned his breakup into a work composed of 12 songs that explore loss, identity and redemption, this new preview being a sample of his evolution.
