Twenty-five years after its release, “Britney”, Britney Spears’ third studio album, returns in a new celebratory edition. Britney (25th Anniversary Edition), released by Legacy Recordings and RCA Records.

The reissue includes the original tracklist enriched by ten bonus tracks, including six songs officially released for the first time. These are “Right Now (Taste The Victory)”, “She’ll Never Be Me”, “Am IA Sinner”, “When I Say So” and “My Big Secret”, along with a further unreleased song.
Two remixes complete the additional material: “Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)” and “Boys (feat. Pharrell Williams) (The Co-Ed Remix)”.

THE HISTORY

Released on November 6, 2001, Britney represented an important step in the singer’s artistic trajectory, marking a turning point towards bolder sounds and greater expressive autonomy. The record spawned singles like “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Overprotected” and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” helping to redefine Spears’s public and musical image in the early 2000s.

Certified four times platinum by the RIAA, the album remains one of the central chapters of the season in which Britney Spears consolidated her role in the international pop imagination. The new edition recovers materials that have so far remained outside the official publication, offering a broader perspective on the recordings of one of the symbolic albums of his career.

Multi-platinum pop icon and Grammy Award winner, Britney Spears is one of the most celebrated and successful artists in the history of pop music, with nearly 150 million records sold worldwide. In the United States alone he has sold more than 70 million albums, singles and songs, according to Nielsen Music data.

Born in Mississippi and raised in Louisiana, Britney Spears achieved international fame as a teenager with her debut single “…Baby One More Time,” which became a worldwide hit and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song broke sales records, exceeding 20 million copies sold worldwide, and was certified 14 times platinum in the United States.

Her memoir The Woman in Me, published on October 24, 2023, recounts with courage and intensity themes such as freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope. After selling over a million copies in its first week, the book quickly reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list.

With “Hold Me Closer”, Elton John and Britney Spears, two of the most iconic artists of all time, collaborated for the first time. The single, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, topped the charts, giving Britney her first number one in nearly a decade. The song also reached number one in Australia and Canada, number three in the UK and, upon release, topped the iTunes charts in over 40 countries. Produced by Andrew Watt, the single offers a contemporary reinterpretation of one of Elton John’s most famous hits, “Tiny Dancer”, enriched with elements of other iconic songs from his repertoire, including “The One” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”.

Over the course of her career, Britney Spears has received numerous accolades, including seven Billboard Music Awards, the Billboard Millennium Award for outstanding achievement and influence in the music industry, an American Music Award, and the MTV Video Vanguard Award in 2011. She has also had six No. 1 debut albums on the Billboard 200 and 34 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, four of which reached number one. It has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, winning in 2005 in the Best Dance Recording category.

In addition to having influenced the lives of millions of people with her music, Britney has used her international visibility to support the LGBTQ+ community, speaking out in favor of the Dream Act and against discriminatory laws against transgender people in Texas. Always an ally of the community, in 2018 she received GLAAD’s Vanguard Award, a recognition given to media professionals who have distinguished themselves in promoting equality and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people.

Following the success of her Las Vegas residency, Britney: Piece of Me, hosted at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and ending in December 2017, Spears took the show on an international tour in the summer of 2018 with the Piece of Me Tour. She has also been active in the fragrance industry for over twenty years: her perfumes are distributed in more than 85 countries around the world.
