On the occasion of Mogol’s 90th birthday, Rai Cultura dedicates a double appointment to the author on Rai Storia, today Monday 17 August, retracing two distant moments in time that restore the complexity of his figure in the history of Italian music.

At 1.00pm Viva Mogol! With the greats of music, selection of the show broadcast in 2016 on Rai 1 and hosted by Massimo Giletti.

An evening built around the songs written by Mogol, reinterpreted by some of the protagonists of Italian music.

Guests include Giuliano Sangiorgi, Massimo Ranieri, Nek, Arisa, Franco Battiato, Ornella Vanoni, Simone Cristicchi, Francesca Michielin and Patty Pravo.

The second appointment is scheduled for 11.45pm, with the revival of a fragment of the episode of Blitz hosted by Gianni Minà and broadcast on 7 March 1982. Mogol is a guest in the studio and talks about the artistic relationship with Lucio Battisti, a partnership that produced some of the most influential pages of Italian song of the twentieth century.

The choice to combine a contemporary television celebration with a period testimony allows us to cross two different moments of Mogol’s career, from the consecration of his repertoire to the reflection on the relationship with Baptists. A television tribute that focuses above all on the words and songs that have contributed to defining a musical imagination destined to last beyond generations.
