ROSES and BUDAYA shine together in “*STAR”

Music news

The song makes use of references to Mexican electropop.

ROSES and BUDAYA present “*STAR”a collaboration in which Victor Rosas returns after the release of “FLOWER OF SKIN”. On this occasion, the singer-songwriter from Sinaloa joins forces with the synth pop duo to give life to a song that transforms the dance floor into a space of freedom, making it clear that experimentation is one of the points that both projects share.

The premiere of “*STAR” took place during the Bahidorá Festival 2026. The song functions as a reminder to enjoy the present and along with a psychedelic sound, explores tragedy and cosmic transcendence. In this way, it turns music into a refuge from which it is possible to feel part of something much bigger than routine.

More than just a symbol in the title, the asterisk represents an idea that connects with the central message of the single: being a star and, at the same time, recognizing the importance of being here and now, inviting you to stop to enjoy the small highlights that life and music offer. Furthermore, the track incorporates nods to Mexican electropop without ceasing to sound current, by preserving the experimental character that distinguishes so much ROSES like to BUDAYA.

The launch comes accompanied by a video directed by BUDAYA, ROSES and ANAN (Natalia Gómez), in which the musicians are shown walking through the Historic Center of Mexico City characterized as shooting stars. The proposal combines fantastic elements with everyday scenarios to convey the importance of finding moments to appreciate the extraordinary even in the midst of daily life.
